What is Danielle's philosophy of life?
Find the positive in all situations. Smile through the tough times.

What message does she have for young female athletes?
Use your gifts in athletics to become a better well rounded, complete person. When I started out in athletics I was really quite shy and quiet, somewhat introverted. But in my experience through athletics, in particularly with playing team sports, interacting with my teammates, communicating I began to come out of my shell if you will. I also had to learn to manage my time. In order to participate in sports I had to make the grades. So discipline was also developed... In short I think that participating in sports allows so many different experiences that will help along lifes journey. Have fun, learn and enjoy the process.

To what does Danielle credit her success?
I think that I am successful because of my work ethics, discipline and determination. My belief that God has a plan for my life gives me the confidence to work hard knowing that with Him nothing is impossible.

If she would have one wish for humanity, what would that be?
One of my wishes for humanity would be more kindness and respect for one another.

What is a typical day when you are training with the Olympic Team?
Wake up between 7:01 and 7:24 (always a number in between the five minute increments) and off to the training room around 8ish. Start practice at 8:30-11/11:30/!2....Ice go to the training if necessary for post practice treatment, have lunch, run errands, nap (most important, second to lunch) and back to the training room heating, and stretching again before the second practice at 3:00-4:30/5. Followed by weight for an hour or SAQ's (speed work, agility and quickness exercises). Have dinner, do what I might not have had a chance to do during the break, rest 'til it is time to do it all over again the next day. Saturday is a half day. Usually begins with SAQ's.

What is the biggest differences of playing in Brazil, Japan and Italy?
Culturally these places are so very different... In terms of volleyball, Japan has your typical Asian style of volleyball, lots of great defensive play and fast offense. In Brazil, you'll find a combination of finesse and power type of game as well as quickness and defense. While in Italy, because any one team can have as many foreigners as one is willing to contract, there is a pretty high level of volleyball in all aspects of the game, height with power attacking and strong blocking with steady passing and defense though not as spectacular as seen in Japan. In all three places the fan support is great!

What does it mean to you to have the Danielle Scott VICTORY Player Mentor Award named after you?
I was really surprised and felt privileged at the mere request of having such an award named after me. To hear what is described as representation of the award means that those characteristics and attributes are what is seen in me. Knowing that leaves me in a very honored state as I continue to strive to be the best person and athlete.

My favorite color is blue.
